Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA)

The CICA is the governing body for all Chartered Accountants. They conduct research into current business issues and set accounting, auditing and assurance standards for business, not-for-profit organizations and government. The CICA also provides guidance on control and governance, publishes professional literature, develops continuing education programs that enhance the skills and knowledge of its members. All of H&A’s professional accounting staff are CICA members in good standing who adhere to the high standards of practice and ethics as set out by the Institute.

Certified Management Accountants Ontario(CMA)

CMA Ontario is an integral part of the national organization CMA Canada. This professional organization is a self-governing body that awards the Certified Management Accountant Designation to qualified candidates in the province of Ontario of which there are currently 19,000. The Ontario chapter, as part of the larger body, also sets the standards of professional excellence, ethics and conduct adhered to by all members.

Alliance for Excellence in Investigative and Forensic Accounting (AIFA)

The Alliance for Excellence in Investigative and Forensic Accounting was established in 1998, responding to the need for a new category of chartered accountant trained in the specialty practice of investigative and forensic accounting. The Alliance operates under the auspices of the CICA and currently has close to 350 members whose focus is formalized dispute resolution and “white collar crime". There are strict standards for IFA certification and we are proud to have three of these designates on our senior professional staff.

Association of Certified Forensic Investigators of Canada (ACFI)

The ACFI is the Canadian governing and accrediting organization for those specialists engaged in fraud detection, prevention and investigation. The association promotes the CFI designation to the public as the highest standard of excellence in the discipline serving the public interest. The CFI community is comprised of law enforcement individuals, forensic and investigative accountants, law, auditing and other service practitioners.

International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists (IACIS)

IACIS is an international volunteer non-profit corporation composed of law enforcement professionals dedicated to education in the field of forensic computer science. IACIS members represent all levels of local, national and international law enforcement and regular IACIS members are trained in the forensic science of seizing and processing computer systems. IACIS provides education and certification for law enforcement professionals in the field of computer forensic science.

High Technology Crime Investigation Association (HTCIA)

The HTCIA is dedicated to advancing the exchange of ideas, information, experience and knowledge as it relates to investigations and security in advanced technologies. Its membership is principally composed of those involved in law enforcement, investigation, security and prosecution.

Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP)

In our capacity as forensic specialists, we have been called upon to investigate cases that are classified in the criminal category. Some of our professionals carry maximum national security clearance which naturally affiliates us with Canada’s top policing body. The CACP is concerned with crime at all levels and supports the efforts of the forensic investigative community in its efforts to uncover and solve high tech crime.

Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)

The legislated mandate of the PEO under the Professional Engineers Act is to regulate the practice of professional engineering and govern all individuals and organizations that they license in order that the public interested be served and protected. The PEO is also responsible for establishing, maintaining and developing standards of: knowledge and skill, standards of qualification, practice standards for the practice of professional engineering and professional ethics.

The Canadian Society of Forensic Science (CSFS) is a non-profit professional organization incorporated to maintain professional standards, and to promote the study and enhance the stature of forensic science. Membership in the society is open internationally to professionals with an active interest in the forensic sciences. It is organized into sections representing diverse areas of forensic examination: Anthropology, Medical, Odontology, Biology, Chemistry, Documents, Engineering and Toxicology.
