Mr. Lemay is a 30-year veteran officer with the Montreal Urban Police, where his early years focused on organized crime, morality and anti-gang activities. As the electronic revolution changed the face of crime, Mr. Lemay followed the forensic trail, becoming a Technical Analyst for the Montreal High Tech Crime Unit, concentrating on criminal fraud. As an integral part of this highly evolved team of experts, he co-founded the support module for high tech crimes, concentrating on the elaboration and implementation of work methodology on computer forensics.
Mr. Lemay has conducted computer forensic examinations for a variety of criminal and civil matters ranging from homicide, child pornography, international drug smuggling, counterfeit money and credit/debit cards fraud, to theft of intellectual property and major telemarketing scams. His consulting expertise further includes corporate espionage, advising the legal community on computer forensics and e-discovery strategies and involvement in numerous Anton Pillers. He has also worked closely with investigators to establish strategies in identifying elements of ‘proof’ and the correct formulation of search warrants.
As a result of Mr. Lemay’s tenure and expertise in computer forensics he has given many lectures in the correct procedures for identifying and gathering electronic evidence. He has also collaborated with the Crime Prevention Unit to develop computer related protections programs, particularly in the area of child pornography.
